Turmeric-Dusted Popcorn with Parsley Oil ~ Pipoca Temperada com Curcuma e Azeite de Salsinha

Turmeric has many health benefits as do the other ingredients in this recipe.  I made the popcorn and it tasted quite good to me.  I left a big bowl of it in the kitchen and stepped out for a few hours.  When I returned, only a few un-popped kernels remained.  Someone must have liked it.

You can use chives in the recipe, as a substitute for all or part of the parsley.  I used half parsley and 1/2 fresh chives from the garden.

Ingredients
2 tsp. vegetable oil
1/2 cup popcorn kernels
2 Tbs. olive oil
¼ cup finely chopped parsley
1 tsp. ground turmeric

Heat vegetable oil in 3-quart heavy-bottomed saucepan on medium heat. Add 4 popcorn kernels, and cover pan; when kernels pop, add remaining kernels and re-cover. Cook 2 to 3 minutes, or until intervals between pops slow to 2 to 3 seconds, shaking occasionally. Transfer popcorn to large bowl.

Off heat, warm olive oil in still-hot saucepan. Add parsley, and stir to combine, then use a spatula to pour parsley oil over popcorn. Toss to distribute, then add turmeric, and season with salt, if desired.


A curcuma tem muitos beneficios para a saúde.  Gosto muito deste tempero e tambem gosto dos outros ingredientes, todos saudaveis.  Temperei a pipoca, deixei numa tigela grande e fui para o quintal.  Quando voltei só encontrei uns grãosinhos no fundo da tigela. Aparentemente alguem gostou.

Você pode substituir cebolinha capim pela salsinha.  Eu coloquei a metade de cada.

Ingredientes
2 colheres (chá) de azeite vegetal
1/2 copo de grãos de pipoca
2 colheres de sopa de azeite de oliva
1/4 copo de salsinha bem picadinha
1 colher (chá) de curcuma
Sal a gosto

Prepare a pipoca.  Transfira para uma tigela grande.  Esquente o azeite de oliva num tacho.  Retire o tacho do fogo e adicione a salsinha e a cebolinha capim (chives).  Misture.  Jogue por cima da pipoca e agite para misturar.  Polvilhe com a curcuma e o sal e agite.  Sirva imediatamente.
